Smoothie King has gone through a lot of changes since its inception. It has developed new smoothie blends and ingredients, changed its logo and grown into an international brand.

Founder Steve Kuhnau spearheaded Smoothies With A Purpose® more than forty years ago. He wanted to create a wholesome alternative to the popular milk shakes and malts of the day. He found this by blending smoothies with nutrients, fruits and protein. After opening his first Smoothie King in Kenner, Louisiana in 1973, his business expanded across the country.

Now, Smoothie King has hundreds of franchisees and locations in 32 states. International expansion introduced the brand to master franchisee and current CEO Wan Kim.
