At Smoothie King, our mission is at the core of everything we do as a brand. Like many of our franchisees, these four multi-unit owners found success in business with the very concept they are passionate about in their personal lives – health and wellness.
A Passion for the Product
As an avid gym-goer and former bodybuilder, Anna Dey credits her passion for health and wellness as what initially attracted her to the Smoothie King brand. Anna was a frequent Smoothie King customer for years before becoming a franchisee, and her genuine love for the product is ultimately what inspired her to add Smoothie King to her portfolio.
“I’ve been drinking the same smoothie for nearly ten years,” Anna said. “Smoothie King’s devotion to healthy living and quality ingredients is what makes our smoothie franchise stand out among the rest.”
Corey Masters truly lives the Smoothie King mission, “to inspire people to live healthy and active lifestyles” every day. Not only does he prioritize his own health and wellness, but he promotes it throughout his community in Grand Prairie, Texas as well. Corey puts the Smoothie King mission into action by partnering with Camp Gladiator, a dynamic outdoor fitness program, Epic Waters, an 80,000-square-foot indoor waterpark, and his alma mater TCU as a sponsor.
“As a Smoothie King franchise owner, I am dedicated to providing guests with a more nutritious, convenient meal alternative, and pride myself on taking extra steps to ensure that opportunity is extended beyond the walls of my store and into my community,” said Corey.
According to Christopher Klebba, investing in your employees is key to achieving success as an entrepreneur. Christopher oversees more than 1,500 employees, so he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to the importance of being an effective leader. For Christopher, leadership means dedicating his life to being the best leader he can be. He emphasizes the importance of trust, accountability and conflict management when it comes to being a good leader, as these core issues can have a significant impact on the success of a business.
“People don’t care how much you know – they care about whether or not you care about them,” said Christopher. “A lot of the time, people have the mindset that once their employees prove their worth, then they’ll begin to invest in them, whereas we invest in people no matter what and give them the tools to succeed.”
Building a Multi-Unit Empire
Yonas Hagos has always made an effort to work out and maintain a healthy lifestyle – so when searching for a quick and healthy lunch during a trip to St. Louis, his friend recommended they stop by Smoothie King. At the time, Yonas had 10 Dunkin’ locations in the St. Louis market and was focused on the growth of his Dunkin’ franchise. But after visiting Smoothie King, Yonas began researching and found that there was room for growth in the markets where he already operates. He quickly came to the conclusion that Smoothie King was the missing piece in his portfolio.
“I was fascinated with the brand and believed in Smoothie King. I saw a lot of myself in Wan – and other than the product – that’s what really sold me,” said Yonas. “Now with the success I’ve found owning 20 Smoothie King locations, I’m hungry for growth. My goal is to own 100 Smoothie King stores within the next five years.”
