Every year, we celebrate National Smoothie Day on June 21 - reflecting on the attributes this wonderful industry has to offer as well as the incredible franchisees and employees that make-up our best-in-class smoothie franchise.

More and more consumers are connecting with the nutritional benefits smoothies have to offer, projecting the smoothie industry to grow by 7.2% from 2022 to 2027 and allowing for an immense business opportunity for our franchisees. Beyond our carefully curated menu that combines diverse flavors and health benefits, our franchise partners and their stores deliver unparalleled customer service daily. 95% Franchisee-Owned

Our brand began franchising in 1989 to bring the better-for-you food and beverage movement across the world. Now, Smoothie King is at just under 1,100 stores in 39 states across the United States alone with a 95% franchisee-owned system.

While our corporate locations consist of about 5% of our stores, our majority franchisee-owned model has established Smoothie King’s success over the years by enabling franchisees to be the main voice of the brand. Which may be why our smoothie franchise is notorious for multi-unit ownership. Through our small portion or corporate-owned stores, we are able to analyze key markets, test store operations, and understand franchisee pain-points in store ownership.

Finding Convenience Through Flexibility & Technology

We have learned over the years that there is always an opportunity to grow to better serve guests, overall benefiting the entire system for customers and owners. That is why we are constantly investing in the latest technology and product development to provide convenience to guests and multiple streams of revenue to owners. Even post-pandemic, our Healthy Rewards app, pickup and delivery options, and voice and text ordering, will continue to best serve guests on-the-go. As for franchisees, our system offers investments in nontraditional locations, such as college campus storefronts, which require a lower-investment upfront and substantial return over time.

Whenever we roll out new technology, we actively seek feedback from our franchisees and even experience the transitions first-hand through corporate-owned locations. That is how we ensure the smoothest possible transition system-wide and build the foundation for a successful new idea.

Purposeful Products

First-and-foremost, we stay true to our brand’s mission to provide healthy blends for every purpose. Our smoothies feature no-sugar-added, non-GMO, organic and good-for-you ingredients, along with whole fruits and vegetables.

Through this purpose, we’ve developed our Clean Blends, which are separated into Get Fit blends, Stay Slim blends, Be Well blends and Take A Break blends. Each blend is packed with fresh ingredients such as protein powder, almonds, fresh fruits, vegetables, multivitamins, fiber, super grains, and probiotics that our guests find both delicious and nutritious.

Franchisee Satisfaction

All elements considered, Smoothie King has repeatedly been recognized as a top franchise opportunity. We received a 2022 Top Franchise Award from Franchise Business Review, ranking as one of the top franchises for franchisee satisfaction, as well as being named the Top Brand to Buy in the beverage category of Franchise Times’ 2022 Zor Awards.

Our proven franchise system has allowed our franchisees to find success with us as well as build a trusting relationship. Out of our 196 store commitments signed in 2021, 63% were existing franchisees looking to continue growing their portfolio with Smoothie King. In 2021, we set a record AUV of $609,753 with our top 25% of stores reporting an AUV of over $907,000. In addition, we reported over $570 million in systemwide sales last year, a 23% increase over 2020.
